Who We Are

The HertsCam Network is an independent teacher-led, not-for-profit organisation committed to educational transformation through support for teacher leadership.

Also known simply as HertsCam, the network has evolved out of a partnership formed in the 1990s between the University of Cambridge and the Hertfordshire local education authority. Over time, it became increasingly independent and grew in size, and since 2013, HertsCam’s operation and governance have been entirely in the hands of schools and teachers.
Our work

HertsCam promotes teacher leadership through programmes that support teachers in leading innovation and the development of practice, with experienced teachers facilitating school-based groups leading to collaborative development. Currently, there are 2 main programmes on offer:

  • The Educator-Led Development Programme (ELDP)
  • The HertsCam MEd Leading Teaching, and Learning

In addition to its core programmes, HertsCam has a strong international dimension and continues to build its global partnership and international connections.  The network also has a publications arm which has led to the writing of all kinds, including a wide range of publications, all of which can be found here.
Aims of HertsCam

As a charity, our objective is:
To advance education for the public benefit through the provision of programmes for teachers to improve the quality of education in schools.
At a more detailed level, HertsCam exists to improve teaching and learning in schools around the world and so enhance the life chances of young people. Therefore, all of our programmes and activities are designed to:
  • Support teacher and school development
  • Build professional knowledge through networking and publications
  • Secure better learning outcomes for students
  • Develop leadership capacity
  • Secure improvements in the quality of practice
