TLDW groups in action
What former participants say about leading development work
This has been a rewarding process, allowing me to develop my own practice and work effectively with colleagues to a common goal: fostering a love and enthusiasm for reading and language. The group have boosted my confidence significantly, both in terms of my project but also through their support of my ideas. I feel I have learnt from all the obstacles and challenges I faced. This has definitely helped to develop my leadership skills. |
I was a little apprehensive about taking part as I'm not a teacher and I thought leadership was all about being in charge and running things. Fairly quickly I learnt that you don't need to be at the top of the chain to be a leader, you just need to have ideas on how to improve an area and the passion to make things happen. Other people's questions and even just having someone to listen to me sharing my project out loud was really liberating. Engaging in the programme has given us the confidence to take the initiative and lead change rather than waiting for someone else. |
